Here's an overview of what you can become a part of in the coming months.

February
February 4th - Sydney Morning Herald Sun Run Sydney’s newest summer fun run. The spectacular course (approx 7km) from Dee Why to Manly will showcase the best of the Northern Beaches. The Sun Run commences at 6.45am and will start at The Strand in Dee Why and finish on The Steyne in Manly. To get into some runners and behind Barnardos email Emma at elipscombe@barnardos.org.au

February 5th - Cole Classic Swim is on Sunday from 8.30am for the 1km and 10am for the 2km. Both races begin at Shelly Beach and finish at Manly Beach. For more info email and to get involved email Emma at elipscombe@barnardos.org.au

February 13th - Annual Darling Harbour Display Day. Free exhibition by the Chrysler and Valiant Owners Association held to raise funds for Barnardos. Great family event with fabulous raffle prizes to be won. For more info email Emma at elipscombe@barnardos.org.au

Barnardos Australia is the exclusive charity partner for the Tough Bloke Challenge series - an off road running event that combines the challenges of cross country running, manmade and natural obstacles, water crossings, mud and some unexpected surprises. Tough Chicks and children over the age of 12 years are more than welcome to join in the fun. Always a huge event. Mark it in the calendar.
May
21 and 25 May - The Peter Pan Committee Op-Shop Spring and Summer Sales The wonderful women at the Peter Pan Committee delight and amaze us with the glorious items they sell at their bi-annual op-Shop sales. Any fashionista or fashionisto will not want to miss this event. Monies raised through the sale go directly to helping Barnardos Australia’s critical work. Keep an eye on Facebook for updates on the Spring Sale. Next sale in November.

August
August - City2Surf Sydney We get behind the City2Surf every year. Well done to all of the wonderful runners who ran for Barnardos in 2011. Keep those runners warm and hit the glorious Sydney course again this year!
September
September - The YPPC Annual Circus Ball Every year in September our dedicated auxillary, the Young Peter Pan Committee and its fabulous members, organise a huge charity event under the Big Top filled with entertainment by Sydney's best musicians, performers, artists and DJs. September - Blackmores Sydney Running Festival The annual Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is on again so why not run for Barnardos? Keep this truly stunning running festival in your calendar.

October
October - Yoga Aid The Yoga Aid Challenge is a special, 2 hour yoga practice held in hundreds of locations worldwide. Participants fundraise for charity in the lead up to the event. You don’t need to be a Yoga expert there will be plenty of teachers on hand to give you tips and pointers as you go along.In 2011, Yoga Aid Challenge raised over $60,000 for Barnardos.

Barnardos Star of Wonder Gifts for Kids Every year at Christmas, we run the Star of Wonder Gifts for Kids appeal. 2011 was a steller year and saw all of you generous people help us exceed our targets of $40,000 and 4,000 gifts. We'll keep you informed of how to give a gift to a child in need as Christmas approaches this year. See our dedicated Star of Wonder section for more info.

14th November to 10 February - Nominations open for Mother of the Year. Each year, Barnardos Australia recognises and rewards the importance of excellent parenting through the Barnardos Australia’s Mother of the Year Awards. Launched in 1996, the awards recognise the enormous contribution that mothers make in shaping Australia’s future through their role in the nurture of children. State and territory winners go in the running to be named the national winner at a special gala dinner held in May in Sydney.
