South Coast Childrens Family Centre

Barnardos South Coast Children Family Centre began operation in 1998, bringing together programs which had operated in the area since 1990. The centre has grown considerably since then, integrating a range of family support, out - of - home - care, parenting group, and volunteer and early intervention services for children up to 12 years old, and their families.

This centre is located in the Warrawong area of the Illawarra region, with many disadvantaged, indigenous and non-English speaking families. The main focus of the centre is early intervention and the prevention of abuse and neglect in children up to 12 years with particular emphasis on the under three’s.

Barnardos has developed many special programs to deal with problems particular to the area, along with the usual high-quality services offered by all Barnardos centres. In addition, Barnardos operates the Bundaleer Housing Estate Community Development Program with the aim of providing tailored, on-the-spot assistance to the disadvantaged families on the estate.
